Michael Carter is an honorary associate in the Department of Art History and Film Studies at the University of Sydney, where his research Interests are: the study of costume and the history of European ideas of dress and clothing in general; the aesthetics of daily life in particular food, costume and vernacular design; and the theory of ornament, decoration and style.
