Eva Collins

Eva Collins was born in Poland and came to Australia with her family in 1958. She holds Bachelor degrees in Philosophy (University of Melbourne) and Fine Art Photography (RMIT), as well as a Master’s degree in Contemporary Art (Victorian College of the Arts). Eva was a finalist in the Olive Cotton and Moran Portrait Awards, and won the Inaugural Nikon Prize (2005). Her photographs are held at the National Portrait Gallery and the State Library of Victoria among other places, and have been widely exhibited. Her short videos have been shown at various film festivals and have won awards. Her poems have appeared in Best Australian Poems, Quadrant, Southerly and Westerly. An extract from this collection was first published in the Newcastle Poetry Prize Anthology (2008).
