David Foster

David Foster is one of Australia’s most celebrated novelists. He has also published three collections of poetry, The Fleeing Atalanta (Maximus, 1975), The Ballad of Erinungarah (Vintage, 1997), which accompanied the Miles Franklin Prize-winning The Glade Within the Grove and Sunset on Santorini (2012). His most recent novel is The Contemptuary, which Geordie Williamson, chief literary critic of The Australian, cited as one of his 2019 books of the year, remarking that Foster is ‘one of our most unheralded major writers.’
